The Krottenhof is one of the oldest surviving estates in the Graz area—its roots date back to the 14th century. The main building, in its current form, was designed in the 18th century, with Baroque and Neoclassical elements. Particularly striking is the hipped roof, which lends the ensemble a striking, almost stately character.
Today the farm houses the Grottenhof Agricultural College, which has existed since 1867 and is the oldest of its kind in Styria. The surrounding area is characterized by fields, fruit trees, stables, learning areas, and small paths that wind through the grounds. The air is filled with the scent of hay, fresh earth, and—in spring—apple blossoms.
