The chapel was built in 1841 by Johann Firpas, an estate manager who created a spiritual center for the small settlement. But its history goes back even further: As early as 1767, Franziska von Fraydenegg, a noblewoman from nearby Reinthal Castle, donated a statue of St. John of Nepomuk. This statue was later incorporated into the chapel and remains the centerpiece of the small church to this day.
The building itself is simple yet harmonious: a rectangular, single-nave space with a harmoniously proportioned turret and a semicircular top. Inside, a calm, almost meditative atmosphere awaits you – sustained by subdued lighting, natural tones, and the presence of a long-standing devotional tradition.
Particularly noteworthy: The chapel has never been extensively modernized or "tourist-friendly." It stands as it was built—a true witness to its history.
