With its unique architecture – modelled on an open shell – the Auster is just a few minutes’ walk from the castle and offers you everything your bathing heart desires on over 15,000 m²: from professional 25-meter sports pool, above Slides and wave pool, to the stylishly designed Wellness area with saunas and steam bathsWhether you want to spend a relaxing afternoon, are out and about with children, or want to do some targeted exercise – here you will find space and offers for every need.
Whether spring, summer, autumn or winter: the oyster is open all year round and is equally popular with Graz residents and visitors. A real Insider tip for those looking for a break from sightseeing, recharge your batteries or just let yourself go.
The current Auster was created in 2011 through a comprehensive redesign of the former Eggenberger baths. The new building impresses with its futuristic architecture, in which form and function interact perfectly: The curved exterior shape is reminiscent of a opened oyster – a symbol of relaxation, depth and energy.
Inside, you will find a bright, modern bathing area with clean lines, lots of glass, and high-quality fittings. Outdoor area with sunbathing lawns, a flow channel, slides and diving tower becomes a lively water park in summer, and in winter the stylish Sauna area to relax. The atmosphere is urban yet relaxed—perfect for a feel-good day in the city.
The oyster is a real Multi-talented among Graz's sights: Sporty, relaxing, family-friendly – all under one roof. Here you can start your morning with Early morning swimming in the 25-meter pool Recharge your batteries, have lunch with the children through the Whitewater canal rush, and in the evening in steam bath or infrared cabin gain new strength.
Particularly practical: The modern spa area is completely separate from the bathing area – ideal for those seeking peace and quiet. Six different saunas, a whirlpool, spacious relaxation rooms, and a private outdoor area with a view of nature ensure a truly relaxing experience. Wellness feeling in the middle of Graz.
The Auster is also wheelchair accessible and offers its own children's pool, a restaurant, a fitness area and, in summer, a large outdoor pool with lawns and shady areas.
Particularly recommended are the Theme sauna evenings with special infusions – often with music, natural aromas, or light installations. A real highlight for wellness fans! You can find the dates on the official website or directly at the venue.
If you're more active, it's best to come early in the morning during the week. It's quiet then, and you'll have the pool almost to yourself—a perfect start to your day.
