If you don't just want to see Graz, but feel it, then head to the banks of the Mur. The Murpromenade is not a classic place with a clear beginning and end - it is a gentle path through the soul of the city. From Andritz in the north to Puntigam in the south, it winds along the river for more than 13 kilometres and combines nature, city life, culture and exercise in a way that you will only find in Graz.

Here you can walk, jog, cycle or simply stroll - with a view of the water, under shady trees and accompanied by the lapping of the river. Sometimes you are in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the city, right next to the Kunsthaus or the Murinsel. And just a few steps further on, you suddenly find yourself in a quiet section where you can hear birdsong and the sun shines through the canopy of leaves into your face.

The Murpromenade is the connecting element of many districts - it takes you through the creative Lend, the multicultural Gries, the bustling Jakomini, the green Liebenau and on to the quiet southern tip of Puntigam. You can hop on at any point and stay exactly where you like it best.

Whether you're planning a sporty round, sitting down with a picnic blanket at one of the riverside spots or simply looking for a little escape from the daily grind - you're in the right place. the Murpromenade is Graz for taking a deep breath.

History & atmosphere of Mura promenade

For centuries, the Mur was a transport route, border and lifeline. With its transformation into a Mura promenade the once purely functional riverbank has become a place of encounter and movement. Green paths, modern seating areas, small bathing bays and well-developed cycle paths now ensure that the Mur not only flows through Graz - but also leads right into the heart of the city.

The atmosphere along the promenade is very different depending on the section: urban, inspiring and creative around the Kunsthaus in Lend. Multicultural and lively at Grieskai. Quiet, close to nature and relaxed in Jakomini, Liebenau or Puntigam. The Mur shows you Graz - from every perspective.
