History & atmosphere of MUWA Graz

The MUWA was founded in 1990 by the Graz artist and cultural mediator Werner Wolf and has been located in the former Friedrichgasse public swimming pool It is housed in an octagonal building dating from 1904 that formerly served as a public bathhouse. The historic building has been carefully renovated and now offers two floors of space for art, perception, and experimentation.

As soon as you enter, you'll sense that nothing is ordinary here. On the ground floor, you'll find permanent installations that explore space, sound, and light. Upstairs, the MUWA regularly changes its exhibitions—with a focus on constructive, concrete and reduced artA highlight for the brave lies in the basement: the Samadhi bath, a brine-filled floating pool that gives you a feeling of complete relaxation and weightlessness.
