The eco-park was opened in 1997 – not as a park in the traditional sense, but as an ecological compensation area in the densely built-up district of Jakomini. It is named after Hans Fekonja, a committed district politician who campaigned for more green space and quality of life in the district.
Here you will not find any paths or flowerbeds, but a near-natural area with old trees, deadwood, shrubs, and natural ground vegetation. The park is deliberately undesigned—it grows as it pleases.
