The history of the Puntigam Brewery begins in 1838, when Franz Knabl founded a small brewery. A few years later, entrepreneur Franz Hold took over the project and developed it into a large-scale industrial brewery. Today, the brewery is part of Brau Union Austria and belongs to the international Heineken Group – however, the Graz-Puntigam site remains active and tradition-conscious to this day.
What makes the atmosphere special: Despite its size, the brewery has retained its distinctive character. The facilities have been modernized, but many historic details—from the brick building to the brewing kettles—still tell the story of this place's long history.
