If you really want to experience Graz, it doesn't start with the sights – it starts with the people. And that's exactly what you'll find at Lendplatz. Here, between market stalls, coffee house conversations, and baskets full of pumpkin seed oil, Graz is more vibrant than anywhere else. The farmers' market at Lendplatz is a place to meet people: regional, down-to-earth, and yet full of urban flair.

For decades, this square has been the culinary center of the Lend district. Every morning, local farmers deliver fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, bread, and flowers. Regulars sit sipping coffee, tourists mingle with Graz locals, and the air is filled with the aroma of freshly grilled food and spicy scarlet runner bean salad. Lendplatz isn't a staged weekly market—it's authentic. And that's exactly why it belongs on your list.

History & atmosphere of Farmers' market at Lendplatz

The square itself dates back to the 17th century and was long a trading center for goods from the surrounding area. Since 1945, the official farmers' market has been held here – a place where direct farming is a common practice. The last comprehensive redesign took place in 1999, and since then, the square has combined traditional market activity with modern urban culture.

Today, you'll find a mix of permanent market stalls and mobile vendors, complemented by nearby restaurants and bars. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively: a place to browse, chat, sample—and linger.
