The roots of Sankt Radegund date back to the early Middle Ages. The first ecclesiastical records date back to 1186. The present late Gothic parish church was built around 1500 and continues to dominate the town center to this day.
In 1841, the town became known as a spa resort. The favorable climatic elevation, clear springs, and the healing properties of the air soon made Sankt Radegund a meeting place for spa guests from all over the monarchy. The historic spa house and the spa hall still serve as reminders of this golden age.
With the opening of the Schöckl cable car in the 1950s, the town also became a starting point for excursions and hikes on Graz's local mountain. Today, Sankt Radegund bei Graz combines historical spa tradition with gentle active tourism.
