The history of Stattegg dates back to the 12th century and is closely linked to the Stadeck Castle For centuries, the hilltop castle was the ancestral seat of the influential Stadecker family, who held important offices in both secular and ecclesiastical matters – including archbishops and minnesingers such as Rudolf von Stadeck.
After the family's decline, the castle gradually fell into disrepair and is now visible as a ruin - a quiet, historic place with a view over the valley.
A new chapter in the reappraisal of local history began in 2024 with the opening of the “Museum of Memories”, which documents over 144 farms, houses, and people – with pictures, original documents, and everyday objects. It makes the village's living history visible and accessible, even for younger generations.
Stattegg remains a community with a strong historical awareness and a lifestyle that combines nature, community and retreat.
