Wundschuh is located just 15 km south of Graz and is one of the greenest communities in the Grazer Feld region. Nestled between the Kaiserwald Landscape Protection Area and a gently undulating pond landscape, the place offers the best conditions for walks, nature observation and short breaks in the countryside.

The market town is known for the Wundschuher Ponds, a vast water landscape with quiet paths, fishing opportunities and a high ecological value. For families, those seeking peace and quiet, and active people, Wundschuh also offers a well-signposted Forest nature trail, well-maintained children's playgrounds and a connection to the regional cycle path network.

Community life is also not neglected: village festivals, regional businesses such as the Reczek Adventure Farm or the Wundschuh Parish Church as a cultural center make the place a livable and at the same time touristically attractive community at the gates of Graz.

Wundschuh's roots reach back to the High Middle Ages. The first documented mention of the town dates back to the year 1230 under the name Wrmscah, which is interpreted as "forest with snakes" – a reference to the former, wooded landscape of the area. This interpretation is still reflected in the municipal coat of arms, which depicts a snake between two spruce trees.

Over the centuries, the town was part of various lordships and experienced continuous development – from a rural settlement to a self-confident market town. The baroque Wundschuh Castle, which is now used privately, still bears witness to this historic time.

Over the past few decades, Wundschuh has developed into a modern residential community with a strong identity. Its proximity to nature, a strong community structure, and the continuous maintenance of its cultural landscape make the place particularly inviting for visitors.
